The Seattle Sustainable Coffee Campaign started on Earthday 2001 to raise awareness and purchasing of shade grown, organic and fairly traded coffees in Seattle. The partnership among The Songbird Foundation, Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign and TransFair USA sponsored:
- paid media including radio, billboards, and bus signs,
- coffee samplings at local grocery stores and events,
- presentations by Latin American coffee farmers,
- video showings, and more.
The finale of the campaign was a June 1st benefit concert with Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Keb'Mo', our founder Danny O'Keefe, and local author Tom Robbins. In addition to incredible performances by these artists, the event raised more than $100,000 to support The Songbird Foundation's continuing and growing public awareness campaign.
