Saturday April 26th is going to remain a blazing hallmark in the annals of The Songbird Foundation. I knew something special was going to happen at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre as I watched Bonnie Raitt and John Mayer rehearsing together at sound check. The chemistry was electric and John’s knowledge of the blues and Bonnie’s songs signaled that the audience was in for a treat they hadn’t imagined.
The evening commenced with yours truly, who was fortunate enough to be included on this bill, playing a few of those lonely ballads for which I’m known. The audience received me graciously.
The lovely Marta Gomez, a young woman from Colombia, who got the audience into the groove and kept them there for the four wonderful songs she and her band performed, followed me.
