OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL EVENING!
Page 4

Bonnie walked out and sat down and in the first minutes of her set had the crowd in her hands. Her skill on stage and the grace and warmth she brings to her songs continues to amaze me. Her long-time bass player Hutch Hutchinson accompanied her. She played Randy Newman’s “Political Science” which drew appreciative laughter, as the irony of the current political situation was not lost on the Boston audience. John returned for beautiful accompaniment on “Nick of Time”, “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and “You’re Not the Only One”. Bonnie finished with a rockin’ version of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. She returned for an encore with John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” on which John returned to play. We all returned for our bows to an audience who had raised us up and had been treated to one of the finest musical evenings imaginable. As I said to the crowd at the end, “If you don’t think love and music can make a difference you weren’t here tonight.” I think that sentiment was heartily seconded by everyone in the room.
